Martin, Harding & Mazzotti Donated More than 100 Helmets for Area Children at Wilton Bike Safety Day
Wilton, NY October 20, 2009 – On Saturday, October 3rd, Martin, Harding & Mazzotti sponsored a Free Bike Safety Event for the Wilton, NY community. The event, which took place at the Wilton Fire Station, attracted hundreds of community members looking for information on riding their bike safely, proper bicycle maintenance and proper bike helmet fit.
“The Fall Bike Safety Event was a complete success,” said Paul B Harding, managing partner of Martin, Harding & Mazzotti. “With the help of the Wilton Fire Department, we were able put on a fun event for kids while achieving our overall goal of spreading the word about bike safety.”
Worries about rainy, cold weather were dismissed as the forecasted storms held off for the event. “We were happy to see the weather cooperate with us at the fire station,” said William Morgan, second assistant chief of the Wilton Fire Department. “We had a tremendous turnout from the community and owe it all to those who volunteered, local schools and Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.”
Morgan continued, “Fires aren’t the only safety concern local families should have, it is equally important to protect the children in the streets as it is in their houses. The Martin, Harding & Mazzotti Free Bike Program allows us to cover more ground in our efforts to provide for the community.”
More than 100 Bell Brand helmets were distributed and properly fitted to members of the community. Ranging in size and design, helmets were available to anyone from a toddler to an adult. Participants were also able to test their riding skills on a “busy street” obstacle course.
On hand to volunteer were the Wilton volunteer firefighters, members of local Boy Scout troop number 24, a Troop G State Trooper, the Saratoga Cycling Club and staff from Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.
