About Spirit of the Capital Region:

At Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, we have been working on a project called The Spirit of the Capital Region (SOTCR). It’s a video series featuring the many local businesses, events, and charities that those in our area can be proud of. We were set to premiere the series, but due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to take the project in a different direction. Now, we will feature a local small business or organization in a short video blog on weekdays to get the word out about what they are currently offering, and how we as a community can support them (while practicing the recommended social distancing).

We Want to Hear From You!

It’s Wednesday, May 13. My name is Emily, I work for Martin, Harding & Mazzotti and this is the Spirit of the Capital Region: Social Distancing Edition.

Many of us are still staying home to stay safe as plans for reopening gradually unfold.

One of the biggest challenges during this time is to stay active, and the local business we’re featuring today can help you with that!

Girl Fight Fitness has locations in Glenville and Latham, and provides a fun, female-friendly environment for the pursuit of fitness and health through strength, cardio, and kickboxing workouts.

They are working closely with the state and local governments to implement a detailed procedure for sanitation and social distancing when they can reopen, for the safety and health of their members.

Until then, they are offering two-way interactive online classes with accountability and support from their trainers. 3-5 online workouts per day, 7 days a week, with recorded versions available afterwards.

They also have special social events like online game nights, happy hours, virtual walking groups, and nutrition support groups to keep women feeling connected and healthy while at home.

Currently, they are offering 1 month of unlimited online access for $49 and no obligation, with half that fee getting paid forward to a local business of the new member’s choice. Their Pay It Forward Challenge uses 50% of new member trial sales to buy a gift card for a local small business, that will be raffled off to members as a workout incentive.

Girl Fight Fitness has been conscious about helping our local community.

They recently held a virtual fundraising event in April and raised over $1300 for local nonprofit Things of My Very Own.

They host a free online Facebook group to help local women improve their health, fitness, and self-care, and have been offering free online workouts to area women to stay active during this health crisis, including Kickboxing, Barre, and Pilates.

The best way for the community to support Girl Fight Fitness in the current climate is to start an online trial and not only support them, but another small local business of your choosing. Share their website and Facebook page. Consider buying a gift certificate for future use or as a gift.

Visit www.girlfightfit.com for more information, and keep your suggestions coming for the next featured business or organization!

Thanks for listening, and stay well! My name is Emily and this is The Spirit of the Capital Region: Social Distancing Edition.
