Atty Harding: Hey, Joe. How are you?
Joe: I’m doing great. So, I’m sorry to bother you, but somebody hit me with I thought a very interesting question the other day, and I figured I’d ask you.
Atty Harding: Sure.
Joe: Can your employer force you to get the COVID vaccine? Right?
Atty Harding: Yeah, it’s one of those things where the answer is, no, they can’t force you to get the vaccine but they can, in most cases, fire you if you don’t, and it’s an outrageous answer. Most people don’t think that’s not even possible, but unless you have a religious exception, or there’s an ADA issue, yeah. So, in essence, they’re not forcing you, but they’re kind of… You’re making that decision based on how much you want that job.
Joe: But, in essence, isn’t that kind of forcing you to get the COVID vaccine? Right? Either, I mean, like, they can’t hold you don’t and stick you with the needle, but they can fire you. That’s interesting.
Atty Harding: Yeah, sort of what’s happened in Europe. Right? So, we can go to Europe… Oh, if we have the vaccine. Right?
Atty Harding: So, otherwise, you’re not going to Europe this summer. So, it’s that same theme. I mean, obviously different employer/employee relationship, but they’re sort of, like, saying, “We’re not gonna do a federal mandate. but if you really want to go to the Yankee game, you may want to consider getting a vaccine.” So, it’s that theme, and I think we’re gonna see more and more of it as time goes on.
