About Spirit of the Capital Region:

At Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, we have been working on a project called The Spirit of the Capital Region (SOTCR). It’s a video series featuring the many local businesses, events, and charities that those in our area can be proud of. We were set to premiere the series, but due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to take the project in a different direction. Now, we feature a local small business or organization on weekdays in the form of short video blogs to get the word out about what they are currently offering. We also explain how we as a community can support them from a distance. Please give our videos a watch!

It’s Monday, June 1. My name is Emily, I work for Martin, Harding & Mazzotti and this is the Spirit of the Capital Region: Social Distancing Edition.

Today we’re featuring Kay’s Burden Lake Restaurant, also known as Kay’s Pizza, located in Averill Park, New York. They are open Monday through Thursday, 4 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and Friday through Sunday 3 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. They tell us that most information can be found on their website, kayspizza.com, but things are changing every week!

Kay’s Pizza is continuing to expand their menu as they are able. They say many items have been out of stock due to manufacturing cut backs so they have had some supply issues, and that things are not as cookie cutter as they seem. But they are powering through and the process has been great.

They are offering take-out with a limited menu, with all orders being taken and paid for over the phone. The customers then pull into the lot and are directed to a table where their order is located. They grab it and are on their way! The folks at Kay’s Pizza tell that this process has worked really well to keep social distancing and touch free service.

They are grateful to their staff who they say have worked extremely hard and offered such a great experience when customers just need a sense of normalcy. Kay’s has been a tradition for the past 63 years and they look forward to seeing their regulars and new faces alike each spring.

Thank you for listening, and keep your recommendations coming! Stay well! My name is Emily and this is the Spirit of the Capital Region: Social Distancing Edition.
