What To Do If You’re In a Car Accident

Joe: On the phone now with Ben Barry from Martin, Harding & Mazzotti. Ben, road conditions, awful the past couple of days. What kind of tips can you give to someone who’s just been into a car accident?

Ben: Well, Joe, first, I would say drive slow, be cautious, be aware of your other drivers, and if you do happen to be in the unfortunate population who is involved in a motor vehicle accident as a result of the road conditions, the first thing I would do is call a first responder or a local authority, like a police, sheriff’s department, 911, report the incident. You probably don’t want to move your vehicles unless you’re in harm’s way. So, if you get into an accident, just kind of leave the cars where they are. I would also call your insurance company directly after the accident to let them know you’ve been involved in an accident. They can get a claim started. And then, if you find yourself injured as a result of that accident, give us a call at Martin, Harding & Mazzotti. We’re always happy to help.
