I’m Phil Mazzotti. I am a litigation attorney and I’m a supervisor of our employment law department, our accounting department, and I work with the strategic development of our firm.As a litigation attorney, something that can really help us is seeing all the trees in the forest. Now what I mean by that is you want to issue spot any problems that can arise in a case, and that’s kind of the art of litigation is to put our clients in the best position to have the best result. When we review medical records, when we see the injuries that our clients sustained as result of someone harming them, we have to know those injuries in and out similar to a doctor. I think that would probably be the biggest surprise that someone would find is how much time we spend in those medical records trying to help our clients. The staff and team members of Harding Mazzotti is the backbone of our firm. From top to bottom, we really spend a lot of time training, we spend a lot of time helping, we spend a lot of time with each other to be in a position to help our clients, to help the firm do better.Harding Mazzotti spends a lot of time, effort and money giving back to the community. That involves helmet giveaways, Uber rides home, even that program used to be free taxi rides home, typically 14 days a year, which were some of the highest percentage drunk driving nights. It’s something that is rare for a company, let alone a law firm, do is, hey, what can we do to get drunk drivers off the streets? We take part in community events to see how we can help.Biggest inspiration or influence would be my father. Growing up, he really instilled in me to be a good person, and he explained to me what good work ethic is, how to work hard, and try and achieve your goals. So to look up to someone like that and for someone that could teach you a profession that you’ve always wanted to be in is excellent and it’s truly inspiring. When I talk to potential clients, I like to explain to them, “This is my family business. This is what we do. This is who we are,” and for something that started 30 years ago when I was a child, my dad wanted to help people throughout his career and that’s something that he’s instilled in me and every attorney that walks in the door.
