Popular Baby Formula Brands Linked to NEC in Infants

What is Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)?
Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) is a serious, potentially fatal gastrointestinal condition. Approximately 25% of infants diagnosed with NEC die from the disease.
With NEC, bacteria infiltrate the infant’s intestinal wall, leading to inflammation and infection. NEC can also cause decreased oxygen supply to vital organs, and ultimately the partial or complete destruction of the baby’s bowel.
