Cassandra Kazukenus
My name is Cassandra Kazukenus. I’m an attorney in the Litigation Department. I handle anything from a slip and fall, a car crash, to products cases, to roadway design, kind of a little bit of everything.
In order to handle the file, especially in litigation, you have to know what their life was like before and how it’s changed. So, in learning about somebody’s life, you get to know them. And the easiest way to understand somebody’s life is to also talk about yours, so then you start talking and a lot of times our files last. You know, they don’t go away in a day or two, so you have multiple conversations over an extended period of time, and you just develop friendships or, you know, a relationship at a minimum.
I think what would be surprising is just how deeply reviewed and analyzed, and the thought that’s given to each file, and how much we talk to each other about our files, because the more you talk to somebody else and get somebody else’s opinion…no one handles a file the same way as another person. So, when you get that collective voice or thought process, it makes the file better. And we all talk to each other all the time about our files, and help each other. It’s not what you get everywhere.

Cassandra Kazukenus is a graduate of SUNY Albany where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Thereafter, she attended Albany Law School receiving a Juris Doctor in 2007, and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2008. Cassandra is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern districts.
Cassandra began her legal career as an attorney in the claims department of a local insurance carrier. Subsequently, Cassandra took a position in the litigation department of a defense law firm where she litigated insurance coverage cases for numerous insurance carriers and defended bodily injury cases. Cassandra has argued appeals before both the Second and Third Departments, and she has litigated a variety of cases including, Labor Law, Premises Liability, Automobile Liability and insurance coverage cases throughout the State.
In her time away from the firm, Cassandra enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with her husband and son.
