My name is Matthew Dillon. I’m a personal injury attorney here at Harding Mazzotti. Before I worked here, I worked on the other side. I did work for insurance companies at another firm. I’ve seen both sides of this. So I think through that experience, I can share with them when I think that they’re getting a fair settlement or when they’re not. And if we need to move into litigation, then we’ll do that. I actually started working here in high school a long time ago. I helped out some of the litigation attorneys get their materials ready for trial. It was something that I thought I may want to do. And as soon as I started working here, I realized that this was a field that I really wanted to be in. I noticed how they were able to help people and make their clients happy. And then when I got out of law school and I worked for a bit and there was an opportunity to come back here, I jumped at the opportunity. On my business card here at Harding Mazzotti, it says, “Attorney and counselor at law.” And I view those as two things. Yes, we’re attorneys. We’re licensed to represent people in court, but we’re also counselors. Most of the clients that we have here have never been injured before or never been through a case like this. They have a lot of questions from the very basics, how do I file for no fault, to very big-picture things. How am I going to take care of my family? Who’s going to pay for my medical bills? They’ve never been through this before. I’ve been through this a thousand times. So I enjoy helping people out, get through a very difficult time in their life. When we get a new client, both myself and my case coordinator will call our client, we’ll introduce ourselves. I introduce my client to my entire team so they know who’s going to be working for them. And I give them my direct line so they can call me at anytime they want. I tell my clients anytime they want to come in and have a chat, if they want to talk about their case, I’m always here, I’m always available for them. And I always try to connect with my clients just on a… Talk about our community here. We live in a pretty small community. So I find with every client, we have something in common. Whether it’s we both went to a Valleycats game recently, or we’re going to Great Escape next weekend. It seems like there’s always something I have in common with my clients. One of the things I love about being a lawyer is they call it the practice of law. And there’s a reason for that. You don’t learn everything in law school that’s going to make you a perfect lawyer for the rest of your life. Every case is different. You learn new things every time. My family’s always preached a love of learning and being lifelong learners. And that’s something I really enjoy about being a lawyer is I’m learning every day and I get to experience new cases and help new clients every day.
