Rochester’s Most Dangerous Intersections

Part 5 of our most dangerous intersections study brings us to Monroe County, NY. Below is the analysis of car accident reports in Rochester, New York and surrounding Monroe County, from January 2015 – December 2016.

There were 20,573 car accidents reported at intersections in Monroe County resulting in 5,590 injuries and 29 fatalities during this time period.

Why did we undertake this review? We hope that our efforts reviewing and consolidating this data helps raise awareness of these dangerous intersections. Identification can reduce auto accidents, injuries and possibly save lives. Ultimately, that is what we hope to achieve with this review.

5. Do not text and drive or use your phone at any time
6. Use caution in work zones
7. Be respectful of other motorists and follow the rules of the road
8. Clean your vehicle’s lights and windows to help you see, especially at night
9. Turn your headlights on as dusk approaches, or during inclement weather
10. Do not let your vehicle’s gas tank get too low
11. If you have car trouble, pull off to the side of the highway as far as possible
