Michael L. White
My name is Michael White, and I’m an attorney at Martin, Harding & Mazzotti. I practice in the litigation group.
When it comes to helping them with maybe it’s medical insurance, helping them with maybe getting a different job, helping them do anything that I can do to push them to a place that helps them regain that sense of, things are okay. And so, that sometimes knows no bounds. And for me, with how I grew up, and how fortunate I am to practice law, I try to offer as many things as I can to help my client. Whether it be emotional support, you know, there’s this famous saying that’s in our office from Victor Mazzotti. On our business cards, there is the word attorney and counselor. We can never forget that we’re also counselors. And so, that involves a lot of counseling in terms of just being a listener and an active listener. And so, I find that with that attitude, it’s not just the law and legal advice, but it’s the counselor, hearing them, helping them through things that are not just the law.
I’m most interested in my family. They are the most incredible people to spend time with whether it’s playing dinosaurs with Brooks or playing out back with my little guy who’s one, that’s what I love doing most. And of course, I do love cooking and I do love good yard work. So, family, cooking, and yard work.
I think what’s special and unique about Martin, Harding & Mazzotti is the fact that we’re a large firm with a small-town feel. And that’s why I love this firm. The fact that somebody like myself who was born in Massena, New York, a very small North country town, the son of a union worker, and can now practice law, help people, provide a big firm feel with a small-town attitude. That’s what makes Martin, Harding & Mazzotti much different than many of the other firms that are in this area and in the state.
The people side of the law, I think is the most practical reality in terms of having somebody come to your office asking, “This is what’s happened to me. I need help.” And being that person that can kind of take those pieces and put them back together and help that person move on, get through some of the hardest moments in their life is exactly what fits me. I don’t see myself being a corporate in-house counsel. I see myself at a kitchen table with a coffee explaining to somebody what their legal rights are, and how to help them get through a time in their life that they don’t know what to do.

Michael was born in Massena, New York and grew up in the North Country. He graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Michael went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in 2014, where he graduated cum laude.
While in law school, Michael worked for the United States District Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York, where he drafted pleadings and assisted in the prosecution of pending federal criminal and civil cases. Michael also completed an internship with the City of Albany’s Law Department, helping to defend the City against various tort claims and appearing in City court for Albany ordinance violations.
Additionally, Michael served as the Executive Editor for Symposium for the Albany Law Review. He also was honored to win the distinction of best oral advocate for the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition and was selected to represent the law school in a national moot court competition in Virginia.
When the opportunity to begin his legal career at Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP became available, Michael gladly joined the firm as it was a great fit for Michael’s experience and passion to help people — especially in times when people need an advocate most to protect their rights.
In his time away from the firm, Michael enjoys volunteering for and coaching youth sports.
