Project Description
Ronald B. Orlando
Well, my name is Ron Orlando, and I’m one of the, I guess, Senior Associate attorneys at the firm. I’ve been with Martin, Harding, and Mazzotti now, since 2006.
Not every case is perfect. The ones that are a challenge where you have to bring your imagination and try to develop all of your skills are the ones where it’s like, “Okay, what am I gonna do with this? How am I gonna get the best possible result I can for this person, and yet try to accomplish what they’re looking for, and to manage their expectations, as well as to manage the adversarial nature of the system?” So I’ve really endeavored in my practice to be straightforward with the clients. To try to make sure that I’m not promising something I’m never going to be able to deliver. But yeah, trying to give them a realistic expectation that, “Look, we’re gonna be able to help you here. ”
I do a lot of volunteer work with The Legal Project. Legal Project is a not-for-profit organization. It provides mostly volunteer legal services to people who cannot afford attorneys. And it’s something that’s close to my heart because you really have the ability to not only provide information and access to legal issues, to the law, but you can help people, sometimes just with a half hour consultation, and it levels the playing field. You know, that’s what lawyers do. They level the playing field for people who are up against large corporations, insurance companies. And what I try to do, what lawyers try to do, is bring to the table a leveling field to try to balance out the power dynamic that goes on.
We are encouraged to give our time to not-for-profit organizations, to community events that we can, not just wear a Martin, Harding, and Mazzotti T-shirt, but that we can be a representative of a firm who’s actually doing something positive in the community. And I love that. I love that. I think it’s been a very…it’s what lawyers, I think, aspire to. And unfortunately, you don’t find it everywhere. So, I’m really super proud to be affiliated with this firm.
