Project Description
Amelia W. Silver
Attorney
Admitted in New York and Vermont
Amelia Silver (Ame) graduated from Princeton University, attended graduate school at Columbia University and received her Juris Doctor from Cardozo School of Law in 1985. She is admitted to the New York State Bar and the Vermont State Bar.
Ame is a new member of the Vermont Bar Association and the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association.
She started her career as a lawyer with The Appeals Bureau of The Legal Aid Society of New York, then clerked for Federal Magistrate (Now U.S. District Judge) Carol Bagley Amon in the Eastern District of New York before moving to Vermont. After working for several years at Barr Sternberg & Moss in Bennington, she left the practice of law to raise her two daughters. She returned to the workforce as the development director for an independent school in Williamstown, Ma, then worked as foundation relations director at Bennington College.
She served as the Coordinator of the Bennington County Small Claims Mediation Program at Bennington Superior Court and taught the “Coping with Separation and Divorce” class in Bennington Family Court for a number of years. During that period she developed a private mediation practice, with a focus on family dispute resolution. Mediation work led her into working with at-risk youth as a family advocate, case manager and program director at Sunrise Family Resource Center in Bennington, where she worked for over a decade. She is delighted to return to her original calling as lawyer, and is enjoying working with the Vermont team of MHM in Manchester. She lives in Vermont, loves gardening, reading, writing, Vermont politics and spending time with her granddaughters and daughters.

“The compassion, determination and help this law firm has provided my family has been outstanding. I am grateful to have been represented by Amelia and the support of everyone during a challenging time and to be reminded to trust the process. From start to finish, I was supported, validated, kept in the loop and respected. I couldn’t imagine having any other attorney in my corner. Forever grateful!”
